National Equivalent Practice   The figures for a National equivalent practice are based on the average figure per PU nationally, up rated to the number of prescribing units in the practice for which the information is required. Equivalent figures are calculated using the formula:

((English total) / (no of PUs nationally)) x (no of practice PUs)

Nurse Prescribers’ Formulary/Nurse Prescribers’ Extended Formulary  NPF
NPEF/SP

These figures represent all prescribing on FP10P prescription forms by nurses qualified to prescribe from either the District Nurse and Health Visitors Formulary (NPF Nurse), the Nurse Prescribers' Extended Formulary or who are Nurse Supplementary Prescribers (NPEF/SP Nurse) employed by your practice and your PCT for patients in your practice.

Number of items a practice prescribes   This is section of the PAR which provides information for a practice so it can see how the number of items it has prescribed compares with the same period the previous year, its:
PCT or
Isle of Man or
Jersey equivalent or
Guernsey & Alderney totals

and it’s national or English equivalent practice.

The following details on the number of prescribed items are provided:

- number of prescribed items for the current quarter, presented as a bar chart

- percentage change from the same quarter in the previous year

- percentage of items prescribed generically

- percentage of items dispensed generically (England and Isle of Man).

These details are provided for:

- the practice
- the PCT equivalent practice (England)
- the Isle of Man equivalent (Isle of Man)
- the Jersey equivalent (Jersey)
- the national equivalent practice (England)
- the English equivalent (Isle of Man)
- the Guernsey & Alderney total (Guernsey & Alderney)
- the prescriber.

The following details are also provided, expressed as a percentage for England and Isle of Man:

- variance between a practice and PCT or Isle of Man equivalent practice

- variance between a practice and national or English equivalent practice.
