Prescribing Catalogue   The Prescribing Catalogue complements the PAR by providing a full inventory of the prescriptions issued for the period required.

The report is designed with the intention of providing prescribers with maximum flexibility and consists of three separate formats:

- Concise Catalogue;
- Full Catalogue;
- Summary of Prescribing.

These three formats provide varying levels of detail and can be used for a variety of analyses either independently or in combination.

The Prescribing Catalogue is available for either:

- all prescribing or
- prescribing that was dispensed by the practice or GP being reported on.

Each catalogue consists of a front cover, a contents list and the sections requested.

It is available, on request, for prescribing information covering any time period of between one and twenty four consecutive months (the previous twenty four months).

Prescribing Catalogues are available for:

- Practice
- GP
- an individual nurse / supplementary prescriber working within a practice
- an individual additional independent / supplementary prescriber working within a practice

The Nurse Prescribing catalogue identifies the formulary from which the nurse is qualified to prescribe, e.g. Mrs. N. Smith (NPEF).

Under certain circumstances the Prescribing Catalogue may be produced with some figures/sections omitted. These are:

- if no prescribing details are available for the report subject for the report period for any requested PPA BNF code ""*** No Prescribing ***"" will appear to the right of the description in the contents list; no information will be reported for these PPA BNF codes. If this applies to all requested PPA BNF codes a report consisting only of a front cover and contents list will be issued

- the summary of prescribing section will not be present if it was requested as a component of a dispensing catalogue or the subject of the catalogue is a practice nurse (England only)

- the figures for percentage change from last year are shown as zero in the summary of prescribing section of the Prescribing Catalogue if there are no prescribing details for that period, for the report subject

- the figures for percentage variance between the subject and their equivalent are shown as zero in the summary of prescribing section of the Prescribing Catalogue if there are no list size details, consultation details for Jersey, available for the report subject.

- Relates to England Out of Hours, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. England use the PDPI.
